Thankful for Legacy: Building for 400 Years
Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving Day Edition
Legacy is not something we stumble into. It is something we build on purpose. Scripture tells us in Proverbs 13:22 that a good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children. That is a three-generation command. But in the Kingdom, it stretches even further. It looks like planting mustard seeds that will grow into shelter for generations not yet born. It looks like stewarding blessing in a way that echoes four centuries from now, long after our names have faded and only the fruit remains.
Today, on Thanksgiving, I am deeply grateful for legacy. Not the modern version that focuses on personal achievement or success, but the biblical version that focuses on faithfulness, family, stewardship, and generational strength. The kind of legacy that God builds across centuries. The kind of legacy bitcoin reminds us to imagine.
Bitcoin is one of the only things in our time designed to last 400 years or more. Its code is incorruptible. Its rules are transparent. Its supply is fixed. And its design is built to withstand storms, cycles, empires, economies, and technological shifts. That long horizon mirrors the Kingdom. It mirrors Noah building an ark when no one had ever seen rain. It mirrors Abraham believing God for descendants when he had no heir. It mirrors the mustard seed that looks insignificant at first but eventually becomes shelter for all who nest in its branches.
Legacy is slow. Legacy is costly. Legacy is faithful. And legacy is always about the future generations who will stand on the ground we prepare.
As I reflect today, my heart is overflowing with gratitude for the people who have shaped my life and the legacy we are building together.
I am thankful for my son James and my daughter Elle. You are the greatest gifts of my life. Everything I build is with you in mind. I want to leave you a foundation of faith in God, strength, wisdom, and financial resilience that will carry you far beyond my years.
I am thankful for my parents, Jim and Barb, who planted the early seeds of faith, discipline, and perseverance that shaped who I am today. Legacy begins with their prayers, their sacrifices, and their steadfast belief in who I could become.
I am thankful for my siblings, Jason and Tracy. Jason, along with Jessica and her son Michael. Tracy, along with Jeff and his daughter Bri. Family is the first community God gives us, the first proving ground for love, forgiveness, unity, and strength. You are a core part of this story.
I am thankful for Denise’s mother, Mrs. G, whose quiet strength and faithful presence represent a generational well of grace. I am also deeply thankful for Denise’s father, Mr. G. I never had the honor of meeting him, but I feel the weight of his legacy through the woman he raised. I pray that my life, my love, and my leadership meet the standard he set for what his daughter deserves.
And yes, I am thankful for our dog Jack, who had brain surgery earlier this year and is a miracle in bringing simple joy reminding us that legacy includes laughter, life, and warmth.
Finally, I am thankful for my beautiful wife, Denise. Marrying you and knowing we will always be forever as one. You are God’s grace wrapped in human form. Your strength, your truth, your calling, your voice, and your relentless pursuit of that truth and faith inspire me to build a legacy that reflects your brilliance and honors the God who brought us together.
Today we give thanks. For family. For faith. For the seeds we plant that we may never see fully grown. And for the God who multiplies every act of stewardship into a harvest that lasts.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the gift of family and the privilege of legacy. Teach us to plant seeds that will grow long after we are gone. Strengthen our hands to build with faith, integrity, and courage. Bless our children and their children. Bless every generation that follows. Make our lives a testimony of Your goodness for centuries to come. Amen. ✝️
