Thankful for Freedom: The Gift of Permissionless Money
Why True Freedom Is Always a Gift from God and Why Bitcoin Honors It
Freedom has always been sacred to God. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture paints a consistent picture: God liberates, and man enslaves. God opens doors; corrupt systems close them. God invites; empires restrict. God sets captives free; Pharaohs everywhere tighten their grip.
And yet every generation is faced with the same question:
What will we do with the freedom God entrusts to us?
In a week dedicated to gratitude, we often thank God for family, provision, health, and open doors. But this year, I find myself thanking Him for something many people overlook: the gift of financial freedom, the ability to steward resources outside the control of gatekeepers.
God Designed Freedom to Be Direct, Not Mediated
When Jesus died, the veil tore from top to bottom. The message was unmistakable:
No more intermediaries. No one stands between God and His people.
This is the same principle reflected in God’s heart toward stewardship.
Proverbs says:
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” Galatians 5:1
Freedom is not the absence of structure. It is the presence of direct access.
And that is why, in a world where banks debank people, institutions pick winners and losers, and financial elites decide who gets access to opportunity…
permissionless money matters.
Permissionless Systems Reflect God’s Heart for Voluntary Love
Bitcoin does not care about your race, wealth, country, politics, denomination, past mistakes, or social standing. It does not check credentials. It does not require trust in institutions that have repeatedly abused it.
Anyone can participate.
Anyone can save.
Anyone can send value to anyone else.
No permission needed.
That is not just technology. That is theology.
God’s Kingdom is rooted in voluntary love, not forced allegiance.
Jesus says, “Come, all who are thirsty.” Not some. All.
Bitcoin echoes this universality. It is the only monetary network on earth where a single mom in Venezuela and a hedge fund in Manhattan have the same rules, the same access, and the same opportunity.
That reflects justice. That reflects truth. That reflects God’s character.
Freedom Is Always Contested
Every Exodus has a Pharaoh.
Every move toward freedom encounters resistance.
And we are watching it unfold now, from banks quietly closing accounts (even of prominent bitcoiners) to institutions lobbying against decentralized systems while simultaneously trying to control them. Freedom is always frightening to those who profit from control.
But history and Scripture remind us:
truth is stronger than tyranny.
light is stronger than darkness.
freedom is stronger than fear.
Gratitude for a Future Where Our Children Stand Free
As I think about my family and those who came before us, I am grateful for a world where future generations can inherit sovereignty, not debt, truth based value, not inflated illusions.
I am grateful that God, in His timing, revealed a form of money that cannot be corrupted, coerced, or controlled.
And I am grateful that we get to steward this moment, plant seeds now, and hand our children a legacy of freedom that honors the God who gave it.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the gift of freedom.
Thank You for designing us to live without fear, without gatekeepers, and without chains. Teach us to steward our resources with wisdom, courage, and conviction.
Empower us to walk in truth, give generously, and protect what You have entrusted to our families. May our freedom honor You, and may our stewardship reflect Your Kingdom. Amen.
